I hate how you need to create a whole new library just to save a single material if you want to share it with a friend. In order to open a material library you have to switch editor to a completely different editor which is not the default. Materials hidden in a drop down menu with different name. Material editor opens without materials. So you would get the max file in question, get the metadata, change the filename of the metadata (setting full path, name, and extension), and set the metadata of the file. I think there has been some big design errors in usability in 2022. There is Siger, which are good, but they are a gazillion variations of pretty few base materials.I agree with everything you said! Would be ideal for my needs, a brand new material editor made from Chaos, optimized for V-Ray, where you can see the materials you create with nicer previews compared to the one from max, and specially a better library management. The metadata allows you to modify paths of 3ds max files, without needing to open the file. Companies like Evermotion makes everything from material, textures to complete scenes, but when it comes to materials it is up to sites like, which are of very varying quality. What I find surprising is that there isn't more of a market for the actual materials.
